Re: [VOTE] Release Apache Flink 0.8.0 (RC2)

Stephan Ewen
I am still traveling and could not yet run cluster tests, so I will delay
my final vote till tomorrow.

So far I can say:

- All files have valid headers

- License and notice files are good for source and binary release

- No binary executables in the released files

Checked signatures and hashes for all tgz files, all OK.

Will do some tests tomorrow.

Hi Marton,

Will verify the release artifacts later tonight.

I assume we have +1 from you?
You also need to explicitly cast your VOTE =)

Robert Metzger
+1

Checked:
- hadoop1 and hadoop2 profiles
- files in the lib/ directory
- deployed the flink-yarn version on google compute cloud (hadoop 2.4.1)
- set flink 0.8.0 as a repository in a flink project and build it from
these dependencies
- I ran some jobs on google compute cloud, with YARN.

The scala and the java quickstarts have dependencies on 0.9-SNAPSHOT versions.

Java Quickstart POM:
<dependency>
<groupId>org.apache.flink</groupId>
<artifactId>flink-streaming-core</artifactId>
<version>0.9-SNAPSHOT</version>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>org.apache.flink</groupId>
<artifactId>flink-streaming-connectors</artifactId>
<version>0.9-SNAPSHOT</version>
</dependency>

Scala Quickstart POM:
 <dependency>
<groupId>org.apache.flink</groupId>
<artifactId>flink-streaming-scala</artifactId>
<version>0.9-SNAPSHOT</version>
</dependency>

Hey Aljoscha,

Thanks for spotting it. It looks like I still have to learn about mvn
archetype. Fixed in [1], this 0.8-SNAPSHOT is replaced by 0.8.0 in the
release commit.

Re: [VOTE] Release Apache Flink 0.8.0 (RC2)

Stephan Ewen
I think we need to cancel this vote (cancel mail), because release votes
are strictly tied to a  revision/commit hash.
Then, on the new hash (and signatures), we can start another vote.

Many checks should be easy to redo, given that the change will be minimal.

Yes, we need new RC.

Also need to update year in NOTICE file to 2015.

Re: [VOTE] Release Apache Flink 0.8.0 (RC2)

Márton Balassi-3
Hey guys,

Thanks for the updates. Let me update the notice file to 2015 and also bump
the inception year in the pom. [1]

By the way which version do you prefer for NOTICE:

Copyright 2014 The Apache Software Foundation
Or
Copyright 2014-2015 The Apache Software Foundation

I've found examples for both. [2,3] I prefer the 2014-2015 version.

[3] https://github.com/apache/activemq/blob/trunk/NOTICE

The next release candidate is coming in the evening CET.

The NOTICE alternatives are 2015 or 2014-2015, sorry for the typo.

Ah, we have 2 copies of NOTICE file?
Can binary diet just use the same one from root to simplify update? I
believe the content is exactly the same.

Yes, there are two NOTICE files.
They differ because bin and src releases require different licensing
notices. (The bin NOTICE is bigger)
