Hi all!
I was wondering if we want to put some names / logos of Flink users on the page. A bunch of Apache projects do that, for example, have a look at the Storm home page http://storm.apache.org From that section of users/logos, we would link to the "Powered By" section in the wiki. That would help showing the great adoption that the community has achieved by now. Let me know what you think! Greetings, Stephan |
Hi,
If we have some high-profile users that a worthwhile putting there and that are OK with us putting up their logos then this would be great. I do like the idea, that seems to be the trend now - the Bigtop community
had a similar initiative recently. We have the "Powered By" page already.
My naive assumption was that companies that have clearance to put their name there are also okay with a logo. After all, it is only displaying the same information in a more prominent place. It’s a great idea! I would be happy if I can help something.
In addition, maybe we can move the full “Powered By” wiki page to the website to reduce external link. - Jark Wu > 在 2016年7月4日,下午11:15,Stephan Ewen <[hidden email] <mailto:[hidden email]>> 写道: > > We have the "Powered By" page already. > My naive assumption was that companies that have clearance to put their > name there are also okay with a logo. > After all, it is only displaying the same information in a more prominent > place. > > On Mon, Jul 4, 2016 at 5:06 PM, Márton Balassi <[hidden email] <mailto:[hidden email]>> > wrote: > >> I do like the idea, that seems to be the trend now - the Bigtop community >> had a similar initiative recently. Good discussion and I think we could bring this to dev list instead.
One reminder we should reduce cross posting to private& and dev@ lists to avoid accidental exposure to internal PMC business. - Henry On Monday, July 4, 2016, Stephan Ewen <[hidden email]> wrote: > Hi all! > > I was wondering if we want to put some names / logos of Flink users on the > page. > A bunch of Apache projects do that, for example, have a look at the Storm > home page http://storm.apache.org > > From that section of users/logos, we would link to the "Powered By" section > in the wiki. > > That would help showing the great adoption that the community has achieved > by now. > > Let me know what you think! > > Greetings, > Stephan > |

With lots of discussion about branding issues with Apahe projects, eg
Apache Spark, I would recommend us to move cautiously. We need to make sure companies listed in the homepage do not represent contributions or control over Apche Flink project. We got some concerns about our Shepard initiative so let's make sure we don't get another concern bc of this. What's being done in other projects may not actually acceptable or the right thing to do. - Henry On Monday, July 4, 2016, Stephan Ewen <[hidden email]> wrote: > We have the "Powered By" page already. > My naive assumption was that companies that have clearance to put their > name there are also okay with a logo. > After all, it is only displaying the same information in a more prominent > place. > > On Mon, Jul 4, 2016 at 5:06 PM, Márton Balassi <[hidden email] > <javascript:;>> > wrote: > > > I do like the idea, that seems to be the trend now - the Bigtop community > > had a similar initiative recently.
