Hey all,
The default language for the source codes in the documentation is Java (see the Programming Guide <http://ci.apache.org/projects/flink/flink-docs-master/programming_guide.html>), but in blog posts (like Introducing Flink Streaming <http://flink.apache.org/news/2015/02/09/streaming-example.html>) Scala is the default. I think it should be consistent. Scala is more concise, thus it might be better for longer source codes, but Java is more widely used. What do you think? It came up because we've been dealing with FLINK-1429 <https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/FLINK-1429> (streaming Scala docs) with Marton. Cheers, Gabor |
I think either way is fine as long as we are consistent.
I have a slight bias for making Scala the default. I'm strongly for consistency and personally would prefer Scala as a default
- thus making the shorter page the default. Then if no objections in 24 hours I'd open a JIRA issue for this.

In reply to this post by Márton Balassi
+1 for Scala as a default. Looks much less verbose.
