Complex event processing (CEP) deals with the analysis of event streams to detect event patterns and generate complex events from them. CEP is gaining more and more traction in industry as it finds application in various fields such as health monitoring, fraud detection and warehouse monitoring.

We think it's worthwhile to add functionality to Flink which allows to do CEP. This includes the specification of event patterns, the filtering of events and the generation of complex events.

This JIRA tracks the overall progress of the implementation effort.
