I'm not sure if the author of the pull request is aware of your comments here in JIRA.
Since its almost done, I would suggest to make an exception in this case and finalize the PR in our old GitHub account.

The code now looks pretty similar to our other examples. So its in any case good to merge.

I have one question regarding the PR: The example only works on two-dimensional data. Isn't it common to use a vector for multi-dimensional data (multiple features?). Is there any good reason to limit ourselves to 2 dimensions?
(I've never really done anything in the ML field, so pardon me if the comment was stupid or is not using the right terminology)
