Below is a project proposal from a technical writer (bcc'd) who wants to
work with your organization on a Season of Docs project. Please assess the proposal and ensure that you have a mentor to work with the technical writer. If you want to accept the proposal, please submit the technical writing project to the Season of Docs program administrators. The project selection form is at this link: <https://bit.ly/gsod-tw-projectselection>. The form is also available in the guide for organization administrators <https://developers.google.com/season-of-docs/docs/admin-guide#tech-writer-application-phase>. The deadline for project selections is July 31, 2020 at 20:00 UTC. For other program deadlines, please see the full timeline <https://developers.google.com/season-of-docs/docs/timeline> on the Season of Docs website. If you have any questions about the program, please email the Season of Docs team at [hidden email]. However, my motivation and enthusiasm have been something that has helped me touch heights which are generally considered to be challenging. To instantiate my claim, I did my undergraduate in Mechanical Engineering from NIT Surathkal and despite the rigorous curriculum, I managed to complete my degree in 7 semesters so that I could take fundamental CS courses like Operating systems, Computer architecture, Data structures and algorithms, Compiler design and discrete math. My coding journey began two years back when I interned at IIT Madras. The project was numerical modeling of the asymmetry of the lung using Monte Carlo simulations to model viral disease spread. It was a challenge for me as I had to learn FORTRAN in a span of one week and finally completed the entire project successfully in six weeks. There has been no looking back since then. This experience helped me secure an internship last year summer at a start-up where I got to scrape data using scrappy and process the same using Kafka and Flink to build a database with billions of entries of IP data in the world and visualize the flow of data streams using Grafana and Prometheus. I also created Flink jobs to validate valid IP requests. The power of Flink was something which amazed me a lot. I also realized how stream processing had changed the development world from earlier ETL processing. This is where I fell in love with open source technology. Right now, I am working for Syslog-ng under GSoC(Google Summer of Code) and it has been a great journey so far. With this background, I would like to explore technical documentation which I believe is an incredible skill when it comes to communicating technology in the most efficient manner. Project Description I went through FLIP 60 forum and the discussion thread https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=127405685. I would like to work on restructuring the existing structure into the detailed and exhaustive structure mentioned in the link above. Having worked on two projects involving Flink in my previous internship, I understand the working of Flink and the intricacies involved and the problems faced as a first time user. I am also willing to learn whatever necessary and give my best {{EXTRA16}} {{EXTRA17}} |
