Hi,
I just "discovered" that on the Flink "Material" page, a couple of slide decks are listed (https://flink.apache.org/material.html). I guess, this list is far from complete. Should we try to extend it? -Matthias |
Yes, you can find lots of Flink slides on the Slideshare.

It might also be useful to link to the training materials which can be
found here: http://dataartisans.github.io/flink-training/ Best regards Martin Maximilian Michels <[hidden email]> schrieb am Mi., 28. I would really love to see it extended.
Do you have time for opening a pull request for extending the page a bit Matthias? Will do.

I am a bit sceptical about the slides on the website, because they just go
out of date. Nobody remembers to update the links to slides in the materials section, so some more permanent links would be great. Linking to training is good, maybe to a few slideshare accounts of committers that these people keep up to date anyways... On Mon, Nov 2, 2015 at 5:26 AM, Matthias J. I don't think that outdated slides are too much a problem because we
also include the date of the talks. So people can judge by themselves how old the talk (and information is). If we keep an eye on it, and update this section in about 3 month intervals (or maybe even 6 month) to remove old stuff should be good enough. And this interval does not put too much effort on the community to keep it up to date in a useful manner. If we only point to slideshare accounts, the problem about old slides is even more difficult to handle, because we (as a community) cannot remove old slides from those accounts and rely on the cooperation of the slideshare account owner. Furthermore, I would expect the number of slide decks over all slideshare accounts to be growing -- thus making it even more difficult for users to figure out which slides are relevant or not. (I doubt that people remove old slides -- it seems that slideshare is often used as historical backup of all available slides). Thus providing a selection of talks over the website seems to be a good idea. Let me know if you disagree. -Matthias On 11/02/2015 08:48 PM, Stephan Ewen wrote: > I am a bit sceptical about the slides on the website, because they just go > out of date. Fair enough. If you believe we can handle the "garbage collection" of old
material well, I am good with your suggestion. On Mon, Nov 2, 2015 at 3:16 PM, Matthias J.
